In its mission to end Veteran suicide, WarriorNOW has served thousands of Veterans since 2019 and provided former military members with peer support services, mental health services, training and transitional services for judicially impacted Veterans. Together, APN and WarriorNOW have created a community of Veteran support across Colorado, and for the past two years, APN has proudly sponsored WarriorNOW’s End Veteran Suicide Gala in which every dollar raised goes directly to acting against veteran suicide.

“Our work with WarriorNOW is incredibly close to our hearts at APN,” said Jason Thompson, President of Plus by APN and himself a veteran. “Having served with the U.S. Marine Corps for 6 years, I understand the unique needs of Veterans and how APN addresses them. Our dedicated curriculum for Veterans acknowledges how different their experience is from civilians to better treat PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, depression, anxiety, and substance misuse. APN is honored to support Veterans in mental health and recovery with the world-class treatment they deserve.”

APN is further supporting WarriorNOW with its first annual Miles for Mental Health fundraiser at Del Mar Park in Aurora, CO at 9:00 am MST on May 20, 2023. Pledged groups include the Denver Veteran’s Motorcycle Chapter and Harley Davidson, among other health and treatment centers.

“Our Miles for Mental Health event is just another way in which APN is showing up to support Veterans and their families,” said Thompson. “We plan to continue raising funds and awareness year after year until the stigma associated with mental health is eliminated and every Veteran has a direct path to the healing they deserve.”

There are several ways in which individuals can support the Miles for Mental Health fundraiser and provide life-saving resources to WarriorNOW. Individuals can sign up to ride and join the strong community of Veterans and supporters already pledged to participate or share it with their network. All Points North Announces Partnership with Journey Colab https://apn.com/press/apn-journey-colab/ Fri, 17 Feb 2023 20:01:46 +0000 https://apn.com/?p=37009 New Center of Excellence for Psychedelic-Assisted Treatment Research has Potential to Reshape Behavioral Health Treatment

All Points North partners with Journey Colab to establish first-of-its-kind Center of Excellence, launching with a study on psychedelic treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD) in a real-world setting.

EDWARDS, CO [February 17, 2023] – Whole person health company offering innovative treatment for the mind, body and soul across the full continuum of care, All Points North (APN), today announced a partnership with Journey Colab, a company devoted to the development and clinical application of psychedelic therapies for the treatment of substance use disorders, to form the first-of-its-kind Center of Excellence for the research and implementation of psychedelic interventions for substance use disorders.

“Approved psychedelic therapies are close to becoming a reality and Journey Colab’s partnership with APN is a huge step forward in addressing how to bring these promising therapies to market safely and at a scale,” said Sam Altman, Chairman of Journey Colab Board of Directors and Co-Founder of OpenAI.

“APN has never shied away from emerging treatments, no matter what stigmas might be attached,” added Dr. Jeeshan Chowdhury, CEO and Co-Founder of Journey Colab. “Their consistent position in the top 5% of ACORN outcomes for behavioral health treatment made them the obvious choice of clinical partner for this project. The Center will combine emerging research in psychedelic care with the best practices in substance use treatment in an integrated treatment program.”

The partnership’s first endeavor will be to design and execute a clinical trial to establish evidence supporting the use of psychedelic-assisted treatment for AUD in the context of a real-world treatment setting. Journey Colab intends to file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to allow initiation of the trial later this year. This study will advance the credibility of emerging treatments and equip clinicians with new tools for combatting addiction.

“We believe science-based information is critical to unlocking the potential of psychedelics,” said Dr. Kelly Clark, Chairwoman of the Journey Colab Scientific Advisory Board and past President of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). “With Journey Colab and APN working together, we hope to demonstrate the feasibility and scalability of psychedelic therapy in treating AUD in a real world setting. With addiction reaching crisis levels, new science-backed treatments that support long-term remission would have great human and economic impact.”

Though still being tested, the potential of psychedelic therapy as part of an integrated treatment plan lies in the practicality of short term treatment and the possibility of greater effectiveness.

“The opportunity to advance treatment for those suffering from addiction has always been a part of our vision for APN,” said Noah Nordheimer, Founder and CEO of APN. “Journey Colab, with their biopharmaceutical experience and expertise in psychedelic medicine, is enabling us to support our vision in a new way. We’re honored to be the clinical setting for this trial and hope it results in finding more efficient and effective care for those who are struggling. I am confident the work we do at our Center of Excellence with Journey Colab, with this first study and the many to come, will completely reshape the approach to behavioral health treatment.”

APN Lodge Expands Continuum of Care in Response to Nationwide Increases in Alcoholism and Depression https://apn.com/press/apn-lodge-expands-continuum-of-care-in-response-to-nationwide-increases-in-alcoholism-and-depression/ Thu, 16 Dec 2021 17:43:59 +0000 https://apn.com/?p=32798 Colorado-based Treatment Center Will Offer Withdrawal Management, Medical Detox, and Professional Assessments

LOS ANGELES, December 16, 2021 – All Points North Lodge (APN Lodge), the Colorado-based behavioral health and personal development provider, is proud to announce the opening of two new centers offering additional service lines, expanding its continuum of care in the greater Denver area and beyond.

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, more than 14 million American adults suffer from alcohol abuse disorder, a problem that was exacerbated over the past 20 months due to the pandemic. To meet the growing need for treatment in Denver and around the country, the APN Detox & Assessment Center, located in Aurora, Co., will offer professional behavioral health evaluations, withdrawal management, and medical detox.

The APN Detox & Assessment Center will be managed by the new Program Director, Alex Coreth, MA, LPC. She holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University, has 12 years of healthcare experience with nine years in management, and previously built a thriving outpatient program as the Clinical Director of a substance use facility in Boston, making her an invaluable addition to the APN team and an asset to the Denver recovery community.

The Denver location will also house an APN Concussion & Depression Center to provide Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS) for medication-resistant major depression, treatment-resistant OCD, and smoking cessation treatment. The CDC, along with APN’s own third-party research, acknowledges that depression disorders also increased dramatically during the pandemic.

The two new centers provide an additional touchpoint, an opportunity for stronger assessment, more treatment options, and a comprehensive behavioral healthcare continuum for higher levels of success and treatment continuity, allowing APN control and quality oversight over the entire treatment plan.

“All Points North’s programming continues to earn industry-leading outcomes, measured by client success, trackable recovery statistics, and low readmission rates,” said Noah Nordheimer, CEO and founder of APN Lodge. “We are providing a comprehensive solution for clients, from assessment to detox to residential, from partial hospitalization programs (PHP) to virtual intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and outpatient programs (OP), and through our robust alumni program. With our newest centers and service lines, APN is deepening its pledge to long-term community and client success.”

All Points North is extremely committed to providing leading behavioral healthcare to people all over the country – either through in-person residential treatment or through its telehealth offering for program alumni.

Spending Quality Time Alone Is Americans’ Top Method for Managing Depression, Reveals All Points North Lodge Research https://apn.com/press/spending-quality-time-alone-is-americans-top-method-for-managing-depression-reveals-all-points-north-lodge-research/ Thu, 02 Dec 2021 17:43:14 +0000 https://apn.com/?p=32795 Financial woes and loss of a loved one are leading triggers for depression

LOS ANGELES, December 2, 2021 – All Points North Lodge (APN Lodge), the Colorado-based behavioral health and personal development provider, found that close to half (46%) of Americans admit they are depressed. A solid majority (67%) of those who are depressed acknowledge that it increases around the holidays.

APN Lodge polled 1,000 U.S. adult consumers across all demographics to understand how depression affects them during the holidays and what they do to manage it.

“The nation is still experiencing depression and trauma from the events that took place these past few years, and the holidays will bring that out even more for some,” says Noah Nordheimer, CEO, All Points North Lodge. “In fact, for many, this time of year is extremely challenging; seasonal and holiday depression are more common than most think. But we are hopeful that if we continue to destigmatize mental health issues, we can ensure that people will have access to the best solutions and therapies for their particular challenge.”

Americans Are Taking Alone Time to Cope

The pandemic caused many Americans to feel isolated, but some feel that a little bit of alone time can help them deal with their mental health. According to the survey, 45% of Americans say that taking some alone time is the best way they’ve found to manage their depression around the holidays.

Close to a third (31%) of Americans admit to drinking and/or using drugs to manage their holiday depression, while a quarter (25%) reveal they don’t have a healthy way of managing it.

While 51% of both Gen Z and Millennials agree that spending time alone is how they primarily try to cope with their holiday depression, their alternate methods couldn’t be more different: Gen Z prefers writing and journaling to cope (32%), while Millennials report they drink and/or use drugs (43%).

What Triggers Your Holiday Depression?

For many, the financial fallout from the pandemic took a toll and had a significant impact on their mental health, and the holidays only seem to exacerbate the depression around their finances. According to the study, Americans reveal that financial issues are the top trigger for their holiday depression (55%).

The loss of a family member or close one has a significant impact, with half (50%) saying this is a major trigger for their holiday depression. A near majority of Americans (47%) acknowledge that seeing people who appear to be happier – or just comparing themselves to others – can also set off their depression.

New Year, New Mental Health

No matter how taxing these last few years have been, Americans are still hopeful for mental health peace in 2022. The research found that over 42% of Americans say they have a mental health goal this year, which includes:

  • To be better aligned in soul, body, and mind – 64%
  • To seek mental health treatment – 29%
  • Find alternative treatments for mental health issues – 25%
  • Staying sober – 22%

However, there is a generational divide when it comes to mental health goals.

Three-quarters (75%) of Baby Boomers admit they don’t have a mental health goal for the new year, while Gen Z’s and Millennials’ top goals are the same: to be better aligned in soul, body, and mind (69%, 59% respectively) and to seek mental health treatment (32%, 38% respectively). Millennials are also looking to give up certain vices (29%), while Gen Z wants to find alternative treatments for mental health issues (32%).

A Majority of Americans Are Seeking Help to Relieve Trauma, Reveals All Points North Lodge Research https://apn.com/press/a-majority-of-americans-are-seeking-help-to-relieve-trauma-reveals-all-points-north-lodge-research/ Wed, 10 Nov 2021 16:57:15 +0000 https://apn.com/?p=32792 Pandemic is Largely to Blame for Creating a Nation in Trauma, But Families and Childhood Events Are Also Contributors

LOS ANGELES, November 10, 2021 – All Points North Lodge (APN Lodge), the Colorado-based behavioral health and personal development provider, reveals that more than half of Americans (54%) are seeking help to cope with trauma.

APN Lodge polled 1,000 U.S. adult consumers across generations about how trauma is impacting their lives. The resulting data indicates that the pandemic’s impact is far-reaching and likely to continue.

“Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event that can overpower a person’s ability to cope,” said Noah Nordheimer, CEO, All Points North Lodge. “Given the loss, social isolation, illness, and job uncertainty or unemployment many have experienced this past year-and-a-half, it’s no surprise that the pandemic has taken its toll on the emotional well-being of this nation. This is yet another reason why it’s so important that we de-stigmatize mental health challenges, and that we encourage everyone who needs it to seek treatment.”

A previous APN Lodge study exposed that 54% of Americans wouldn’t seek therapy because of the stigma attached to it.

As the U.S. looks to recover from the devastating effects of the pandemic, many Americans are having difficulties getting “back to normal.” Half of all Americans believe the pandemic has been the most traumatic event they have lived through, with younger generations like Gen Z (53%) and Millennials (60%), feeling the most traumatized by events of the last 20 months.

  • While all generations admit to having trauma, more Gen Z-ers report having experienced trauma (63%) than any other cohort
  • Baby Boomers report the least amount of trauma of all the demographics (38.5%)
  • More than a third (39%) of Americans admit they will have lasting mental health issues, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and/or depression, due to the pandemic
  • More than two-thirds (66%) agree that experiencing trauma has helped make them stronger

While the pandemic has exacerbated the incidence of trauma nationwide, more traditional causes of distress – family relationships or loss or death of loved ones – hold steady. A solid majority of Americans (63%) believe that their family has caused them trauma.

  • 24% of Americans say their childhood was the most traumatic experience for them
  • 21% say a death or loss of a family member was the most traumatic event

This recent study unpacks a disparity in how generations cope with trauma: Gen Z uses in-person therapy the most (73%), while Baby Boomers rely more on medication (68%).

Across all the cohorts, of those that sought help:

  • Nearly two-thirds (65%) embraced in-person therapy
  • 49% used medication
  • 21% stayed at a psychiatric hospital
  • 20% used tele-therapy

“It’s welcome news that more Americans are availing themselves of therapy, and aren’t ashamed to ask for help,” said Nordheimer. “Our world has become increasingly complex, and for too many, difficult to navigate. Seeking treatment for trauma, substance abuse, or mental health challenges should always be encouraged. We know that an evidenced-based approach to treating these issues works, whether that care is in-person or online, but we need to ensure that people are not afraid to reach out.”

A Majority of Companies Failed to Invest in Their Employees’ Mental Health During the Pandemic, All Points North Lodge Study Reveals https://apn.com/press/a-majority-of-companies-failed-to-invest-in-their-employees-mental-health-during-the-pandemic-all-points-north-lodge-study-reveals/ Sat, 01 May 2021 16:51:29 +0000 https://apn.com/?p=32785 64% of Americans Report Their Employers Don’t Have Policies in Place That Foster Wellness or Prevent Burnout

LOS ANGELES, April 29, 2021 – Research from All Points North Lodge (APN Lodge), the Colorado-based behavioral health and personal development provider, reveals that 44% of Americans are feeling stressed, anxious or sad because of burnout from work. A solid majority (64%) of Americans report their companies don’t have any policies in place to support wellness or prevent burnout.

APN Lodge polled 1,000 U.S. adult consumers about coping with mental health challenges in the work environment during the pandemic. The survey results indicate that the pandemic’s impact on an individual’s mental health permeates through all aspects of his or her life.

“Stress itself isn’t bad, but when you are exhausted, overwhelmed and distressed by your work — you may start to adopt unhealthy ways of coping with the burnout,” said Noah Nordheimer, CEO, All Points North Lodge “APN Lodge clinicians and experts see how work burnout can affect a person’s well-being and want to educate employers to understand that mental health is part of a person’s overall health and needs to be addressed as such.”

The APN Lodge team and campus of professionals are devoted to helping people have sustainable, positive lives and believe that no one should ever have to feel shame for wanting to improve their life.

Nearly three-quarters of companies haven’t invested in their employees’ mental health or well-being since the pandemic began. Of those companies that did provide mental health support, Americans cited the most important was paid mental health days (47%) and being allowed to work from home (42%).

A third of Americans want their employer to hire more people to alleviate the hardship of working very long hours — suggesting that many employees are exhausted from overwork.

“As the data demonstrates, employees want more recognition of mental health wellness programs, such as paid mental health days and working from home,” said Ryan Soave, APN Lodge Director of Program Development and certified trauma therapist. “To fully understand mental health wellness for employees, corporate America needs to better understand the effects of workplace stress and burnout and create a more accepting place where employees feel comfortable taking care of themselves and their mental health.”

The pandemic has helped catapult the topic of mental health into the mainstream, as more Americans than ever struggle with feelings of isolation and depression. Still, only slightly more than a quarter of Americans report that they are comfortable speaking about mental health challenges or sharing their stories with others. APN believes that the stigma associated with mental health challenges may be the reason why workplaces haven’t looked to move forward with additional support.

“Just because your employees aren’t talking to you about their mental health doesn’t mean they aren’t struggling,” said Nordheimer. “ Supporting employee mental health will pay off at the corporate level, too — with less burnout, higher morale, and greater company loyalty. Companies need to ask themselves, ‘Do our employees actually need another pizza party? Or do they need to know that we respect their work-life balance?’”

Added Nordheimer, “We believe it’s the latter.”

All Points North Lodge Research Confirms COVID-19’s Negative Impact on Americans’ Mental Health https://apn.com/press/all-points-north-lodge-research-confirms-covid-19s-negative-impact-on-americans-mental-health/ Thu, 01 Apr 2021 16:41:08 +0000 https://apn.com/?p=32775 A Majority Report Feeling Isolated and One-Third More Depressed Since the Start of the Pandemic

LOS ANGELES, April 1, 2021 – New research from All Points North Lodge (APN Lodge), the Colorado-based behavioral health and personal development provider, finds that a majority of Americans (59%) are feeling isolated since the start of the pandemic, even though nearly three-quarters are living with someone.

APN Lodge polled 1,000 consumers across all demographics to discern how Americans coped with quarantining/stay-at-home orders and the historical events of 2020. The resulting data confirms that Americans are confronting more mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and panic attacks due to these events. It also illustrates that the perceived stigma of having a mental health challenge is keeping many from seeking treatment.

More than a third (36%) of Americans are more depressed by the state of the world because of the public health, racial, social, and political events of this past year. Nearly as many (35%) are more anxious, and 18% are experiencing more mental health issues than before.

“As the data shows, an increasing number of individuals are struggling with mental health, which of course makes sense – it’s been quite a year,” said Noah Nordheimer, CEO of All Points North Lodge. “But the only way we’ll get through it is by taking the steps to improve ourselves and our minds. At APN, we want all of our clients to feel that they are supported and being treated for their own individual struggles.”

APN’s research reveals Americans’ mental health challenges and the various ways they are looking to alleviate those challenges:

Mental health issues are on the rise. The survey finds that since the onset of pandemic, Americans are combating escalating mental health issues, with 36.7% experiencing more anxiety, 32.5% more panic attacks, and 27% more depression. Close to a third (30.3%) regularly grapple with stress and anxiety.

Americans are also feeling more isolated. While close to three quarters (74.4%) live with someone, the majority (59.5%) still report feeling isolated since the pandemic began. A whopping 67% of Millennials have battled feelings of isolation, as have nearly 60% of Gen Zers.

More Americans are exploring alternative methods to manage their anxiety and other mental health concerns than are taking prescription medicine. Nearly half (46.5%) of Americans are using holistic remedies to relax and manage their stress and mental health, while a little over a third (36.7%) are taking prescription medicines.

Vitamin use tops the list, but Americans are also self-soothing with tea, CBD, and THC. The younger cohorts – Gen Zers and Millennials – are the most likely to use CBD or THC to manage their stress and mental health.

However, many Americans are not taking any action to improve their mental health. A large percentage (63%) of Americans are not taking prescription medicines, close to half of Americans (44.7%) haven’t tried counseling or therapy, and more than a third (35.7%) haven’t tried any alternative remedies. Of those who haven’t tried therapy, about a third say it’s because they don’t have a mental health diagnosis, while nearly a quarter say it’s too expensive.

There’s still a stigma around mental health. Fear of being judged because of a mental health diagnosis is the No.1 barrier to people getting help when struggling with mental health, with 57.8% citing this as the top reason they don’t seek treatment. However, lack of support from family and friends also looms large, with 43.8% citing this as the reason. Additional concerns include negative perceptions of therapy (38.9%) and the inconvenience of going to in-person appointments or treatment (31.9%).

“Stigma is still a key factor in receiving help, along with convenience of going to treatment,” said Nordheimer. “At APN, we are working to remove the stigma and bring to light that improving yourself is not something to be ashamed of — in fact, it’s something to be celebrated. In addition to in-person care, we’re also making addiction and mental health treatment more convenient with online treatment options. After the year we’ve had, we should all be working towards better mental fitness and physical fitness so we can come out stronger on the other side.”

APN Lodge is a team of mental health experts that are devoted to helping people have sustainable, positive lives. A founding principle is that no one should ever have to feel shame for wanting to improve their life.
